in Glasgow

I hang up in the phone, a smile on my face. Everything is slowly moving into place. Louis's party is getting pretty organised by now. Everybody has confirmed, and my mate at the Uisge Beatha pub has agreed on booking a table for us on sunday night. I'm really pleased everything goes according to plan. Louis doesn't really look that happy, although I know he's been enjoying himself. Charlie is right, there is something wrong. As if he was constantly sad.
I turn my phone off, and walk back in. My next visit is for Jonathan. He's a little younger than me, and can't walk anymore. A stupid accident. A car accident. His mates and him were drunk. They took a car to get home. A tree was on their way. And he's the one who won't be able to walk ever again. I know that it doesn't make it any easier to think that he had it coming, but somehow I know, after we talked about it, that he takes it better than if it was someone else in this chair. He always says that he wouldn't have bore the idea of someone else disabled by their stupidity. That boy is just so strong. Although I know he suffers way more to see the anger and the pity in his mum's eyes...
After him, I'm off. The day is over. At last, I make my way to the parking. In the corridor, I meet Mary. She kisses me on both cheeks, and then runs away.
Once again, Charlie is right, there is something in Mary...
I turn my phone back on. A text. Charlie's.
"Everything's ok, love? Don't plan anything tomorrow night, we're taking care of Louis. He needs us."
My brave and courageous Charlie...
