Fragment #2 - Christmas Day

The phone doesn't even stop its first ring.
"Yeah, hello!"
"Hi, honey, merry Christmas."
"Hi, mum. Merry Christmas to you too."
Please, mum, don't take my disappointement personally. I just can't help it. This situation is driving me crazy.
"How are you, dear?"
"I'm ok, mum. How is it going with the rest of the family?"
"Good, good. Joe's family is keeping us quite occupied. And Santa Claus had been very generous. By the bye, did you get our little package?"
"I did, it's waiting to be unwrapped. Thank you, Mum, thanks to Dad too."
"No problem, honey. Listen, I have to go, my turkey is in the oven."
"Sure, no bother. I love you Mum, say hi to everybody."
"Will do, take care, Steve."

I go back on the sofa. I'm sitting facing the windows. Glasgow had the chance to get a little snow yesterday. On the table, just there, are waiting a couple of presents, nicely wrapped. My parents' for me and the other for Charlie, which arrived two days ago. Paul's for his sister. Sasha's, one for me and one for Charlie. Same from Cameron.
I can't get myself to open them. No. I will wait. I will wait for her.

No Christmas without her.
