| Friday, January 16th 2009 in Glasgow I get in Franck's office, and put on his desk the papers I carry in my hands. They are the reports of the patients' evolutions. One of them is a bit slow but then again, they're all different. I look quickly around, and seeing that Franck is not in, I get out and resume my work. While I'm walking down the corridor, I list, in my head, the things I have to do this afternoon. I have to visit Mrs Broad, get Mr Humphrey to take his medecine, motivate Andrew to do his exercices, and debrief the new colleague, Joe. And if I can, trying to have a little word with Mary, whom I completely blacked out since Charlie's return. I think actually that I blacked out eveerybody, knowing how deeply I wanted to get home as fast as I could. Never mind. Maybe organising a drink out or something would be a good idea. I don't know if Charlie will be ok. Well, we'll see.
"Hello, Mrs Broad. How are we today?" "I'm ok, Steve. Look at my flowers." Since she's been here, that's all she ever says. And every time it breaks my heart. Life is cruel. | |
