| Monday, February 23rd 2009 in Glasgow Steve drops me off in front of Dr McCourt's. He's on his way to a night shift. I hope it'll be ok. He didn't sleep very well in the last couple of days, so I'm not sure if he's rested enough. Well, now it's too late to worry about it anyway. I get in the waiting room. There is nobody there. I'm way early, but Steve didn't want to let me go on my own. And he made Cameron promise to come and get me at 7... I think he's being overprotective, but I don't want to hold it against him. I guess I would have been like that too, in a reverse situation. I sit down, check my watch, and get comfy starting reading the new Premiere I bought for the occasion. After a couple of minutes, a young woman comes in. She is quite stylish, with shoulder-length blond hair. She's probably about 25-26. It makes me wonder. How come young people like us need shrinks? Is it because of the time we live in? With broken landmarks as far as family, relationships and future are concerned? Or is it just some kind of need created by our society to keep ourselves busy? I do not deny that seeing the doctor does me some good, especially when it comes to clarify what happen last December. But not all the shrinks' patients have been kidnapped. And not all of them have been beaten or raped in their childhood... I shrug my shoulder: I DO need a shrink. See where my twisted mind drove me just by looking at this fine young lady... I look at her a bit more closely, just noticing that she's reading the French Glamour. She looks back, probably feeling my gaze on her. A bit defensive, I decide to engage the conversation. Is she French? How long hes she been living around here? What job does she do? Supprisingly enough, we rapidly move on speaking just in French. She asks the same questions about me, and seems quite interested when I tell her I'm a journalist, working at Glasgow News. There is a little gap in the conversation at that point though, as if she is making the connection between the name of the newspaper and my presence here. But then, she goes on with her question about my job. It can be so boring to talk about it, but I don't feel like that today. I decide to tell her about the weird answers I already had at some of my interviews. "Oui, vous seriez surprise de toutes les raisons que m'ont donnés mes interviews pour venir s'installer à Glasgow", I say. "Par exemple?" "Et bien, une dame espagnole assez âgée m'a confié être venue à Glasgow car elle en avait assez du soleil..." I roll my eyes to emphasize the absurdity of that reason. She smiles and says "Glasgow était un bon choix alors." That's when I realise I didn't introduce myself. I stretch my hand out, in the French manner and tell her my name. She takes my hand and gives me hers. "Amelie Legoff." "Enchantée" "De même." Suddenly, I realise I really would like to see Amelie again. Out of nowhere, I take the first idea that comes through my head. "Verriez-vous un inconvénient à m'accorder une interview? Vous ne répondrez qu'aux questions qui vous conviennent..." Please, say yes! "Bien sur ce serait amusant." Bless you! "Quand pourrions-nous nous voir?" We discuss a minute and then agree on meeting on next wednesday in the Starbuck's Coffee on Byres Road. And before I could start off with more questions, the doctor opens the door and ask my new friend in. I quickly take out one of my cards out of my bag and give it to Amelie. "Au revoir, à mercredi."
See you Wednesday, fellow shrink patient... [cf. Amelie #69]

| I LOVED that :D (Nicely done Alhena on the complementarity of our dialogues, both giving different parts...)
It seems to me that a real connection has been made! I love to have Charlie's side of the situation, her thinking about the psychiatrist...
I can't wait to do it again! And really nice fragment in itself. (Well I loved it because there is Amélie in it, of course, but not only...)
